It’s been 20,000 miles with my GTI, and my tires are looking pretty bald. I decided to head over to TireRack and order a new set of tires. For a while I was pretty sold on the Falken 452s. They are great tires for the price and everyone I know that has them seems to have nothing but good things to say about them.

After picking up the APR ECU upgrade about a month ago, that extra power is resulting in some torque steer. This is a pretty common ailment when dealing with front wheel drive cars that put a lot of torque down to the ground. A few weeks ago I started feeling pretty optimistic about getting rid of this problem after riding in my buddy’s car. After all, his mod’s are running over 300 lbs of torque and he has zero torque steer. I attributed much of this to his new BFG tires. My Yokohamas arrived about 2 days ago thanks to TireRack’s speedy shipping. Tomorrow is installation day, so you can expect an update.
